Swim Officials Training Information
MCPS does not maintain a database of high school officials.
For dual meets and divisionals it has been customary to utilize officials based on their summer league level of certification.
For Regionals and State championship meets the MPSSAA require certification through MPSSAA. This involves taking an annual rules interpretation clinic, which is currently available for the 2024-2025 swim season (see below). Certification requirements through MPSSAA are listed on the MPSSAA web site (https://www.mpssaa.org/officials/). Requirements consist of attending an annual online rules interpretation clinic, registering with the dragonfly platform, paying the $40 annual registration fee, affiliating with a local official association and passing an online test.
Year-round, Potomac Valley Swimming (PVS) no longer teaches Stroke & Turn (S&T) clinics. All S&T clinics are online and available to take at any time through USA Swimming University (https://www.pvswim.org/official/training/ST_training.html).
MPSSAA Officials Training
As a note, all officials (new and returning) must use the Dragonfly platform to register and pay their registration fees. The rules interpretation clinic is also online again this year, and you will need to upload your certificate in Dragonfly to receive credit for attending the clinic. I have attached this year's letter from MPSSAA with important information. Please be sure to read the letter in its entirety. Also, please complete this form: https://formsmarts.com/
